Precision Forging Introduction to Precision Forging Technology

Introduction of Precision Forging and Forming Technology

Precision forging and forming technology is an application technology that integrates computer information technology, new energy and new materials. It is developed on the basis of conventional forging and forming technology. Precision forging and forming technology allows parts to be used without much processing after basic forming, and is often referred to as near-net forming technology.

Types of Technology

Precision forging and forming technology is mainly used for precision forging of parts and finishing of blanks. There are various types of this forming process, and the following are a few important classifications based on:

Forming speed: high speed precision forging, normal precision forging and low speed precision forging forming.

Metal flow conditions: semi-closed, closed and open precision forging forming processes.

Forming temperature: superplasticity, room temperature, medium temperature, high temperature precision forging forming, etc.

Forming technology: split forging, isothermal forging, dual dynamic forging, composite forming, warm precision forging, hot precision forging and cold precision forging, etc.

The above methods are widely used in production.

Precision Die Forging

Another important type of precision forging is precision die forging. It is developed from common dies and requires almost no cutting process. Using precision die-forging technology it is possible to directly shape parts, which need to be cut in the past to meet accuracy requirements, or only a small amount of ground needs to be left. As a result, there are more stringent technical requirements and higher cost effectiveness for the die forging process.

The process of precision die-forging includes steps such as adding metal, heating, press forming and removing residual material. Compared to traditional cutting processes, precision die forging has many advantages, such as

Enables mass production of high strength and high wear resistance parts.

The ability to give products more consistent and reliable performance because it provides more consistent shapes and sizes.

Reduces the amount of material waste over conventional methods and can reduce overall costs.

Works in virtually all metal materials, whether titanium alloys or high temperature alloys can be processed.

Very complex parts can be manufactured, including not only geometries but also thin-walled components, inlaid parts and hollow structures.

Overall, precision forging and forming technology is an increasingly important field that will become more common in the future as various emerging industries develop. It offers greater freedom and flexibility in product design, as well as superior quality and efficiency for the machining and manufacturing industries.
